Have you been a victim of having to pay for an overpriced campus parking permit? My so called, “affordable college” forced me every year to dig deep into my empty pockets to pay for a stupid parking permit. But wait, you haven’t heard the worst of it. They increased the price of this cheaply made plastic review mirror hanger EVERY YEAR! So if you have been a victim of this heinous crime, fear no more because after you read this article you will be saved!

I don’t know about your school but my school offered to all students a free semester bus pass. Well, it wasn’t an actual buss pass they would hand out to you. All you would have to do is present your ID card to the ID counter then they would encode the buss pass in your ID card. Your probably asking, “what does this have to do with not having to buy a parking permit”. Park your car near a bus stop which is close to your campus. Then obviously jump on the bus and take it to school. The reasoning for parking your car away from campus is because most places surrounding campuses doesn’t allow students to park. Taking the bus can be a pain in the ass sometimes but being a broke student you don’t have many choices.

Most of you college students either own a skateboard or a raggedy old bike that you got when you were 16. So why not use these transportation devises? Just park your vehicle a few blocks from campus and let the wind blow freely in your hair as you gracefully cruz to school. Not only do you save money but you get a nice little work out too.

My campus offered a discount on parking passes which were designated to students who carpooled with other students. The only difficult thing about doing this is making sure class schedules don’t conflict which each other. Not only did carpool students get a discount on their parking permit but they also had access to a up front designated parking area.

    I GOT SEVERAL parking tickets before I learned all the intricacies of proper street parking. I also “park and ride” and take the campus bus when I can’t find a space. On larger campuses they should offer a huge lot where students can park and take the bus. Your school must suck if that’s not the case. I know MINE does! Ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!! No, seriously. NC State sucks monkey asshole riding a tricycle. Don’t go there. Ever.

    do most kids have cars at school? I’m applying to schools now and using AcceptEdge to help narrow down choices but never thought about the parking situations at schools…

    I studied way back more than a decade ago and the most that most of us could afford was a motorbike. My wife walked to campus or took a bus. Well, it was different then, now everything cost more.

    OH I feel your pain. I used to go to school in SF, and the parking was horrific. I would park near the Bart station, and then take the free shuttle to school. It was definitely worth leaving the house early, because otherwise parking tickets were about 70 bucks a pop, definitely not something a broke college student could afford!
